In March, the vine gently comes out of winter dormancy and begins its annual growing cycle with budbreak. The buds swell and reveal fragile young shoots. This stage is decisive, because it directly influences the quality and quantity of the future harvest.

A key moment for our team

Growth resumes: sap circulates through the vines again. Maximum vigilance is required as we carefully monitor the vineyard to ensure the season starts well.

In the soil: the first tillage begins

March also marks the beginning of soil work. We aerate the soil to stimulate microbial life and encourage water infiltration. We uncover the vine bases to avoid competition with grass.

The Sheep

While some parcels welcome young vines, others benefit from a rather special presence: a flock of sheep moving through the vineyard rows. Their passage naturally weeds the parcels as they feed on the grass growing between the rows.
